Ismael Melendez was sentenced to 9 years in jail for weapons’ charge in 2005. This person has served as an inmate there. Recently this person was accused in selling anabolic steroids. This person promoted sales of prohibited drugs inside and even outside the prison in New York. He faces charges of prison contraband, illegal possession of controlled substances and illegal possession of syringes.
It was found out that Richard Finley, Melendez’ substance abuse counselor, had participated in the illegal activity of Melendez. This person worked about 10 years for the Cape Vincent prison. The substance abuse canselor helped him to sell anabolic steroids outside the prison. The illegal activity led to his arrest in November 2011. It happened when he had caught during selling anabolic steroids to a man in a certain car lot.
Melendez sent Finley to deliver certainbanned products to a customer. The purchase was made in a certain shopping centre.
Undoubtedly, a question appears: Why did the substance abuse counselor start to promote selling prohibited substances?
Finley admitted why he had agreed to help Melendez . Melendez promised to give him HGH and 1500 dollars. It would have been given as exchange for promotion of smuggling alcohol, anabolic steroids and creatine inside the prison. But the substance abuse counselor was arrested by the police and charged with possession of prohibited medications and a hypodermic instrument.
The substance abuse counselor made also another great mistake. He brought his small child of 7 years old, when he was involved in the crime. That’s why Finley was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
This led to a suspension of Finley from his job without any pay. Thus, this man lost the well-paying work. It is known that the substance abuse counselor received about 52, 000 dollars per one year.
The inmate was transferred to another prison. He continues to serve his sentence.
