Oscar De La Hoya is the president of Golden Boy Promotions. Richard Schaefer is the CEO of this company. These individuals accused the boxer Manny Pacquiao in intake of steroids. Since this suspicion could disturb Pacquiao’s reputation, he filed a defamation lawsuit against the Chief Executive Officer and the president of Golden Boy Promotions, the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father.
But later Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum, the Cief Executive Officer of Top Rank, reached an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions. So, Manny Pacquiao dropped lawsuit against the president and the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Boy Promotions. But the defamation lawsuit against the fighter Floyd Mayweather and his father remained valid.
The CEO and the president of Golden Boy Promotions said that they denied their prior settlements related to accusation in administration of steroids by Manny Pacquiao. They pointed out that there was no any evidence to suspect this fighter in application of banned products. Richard Schaefer and Oscar De La Hoya recognized that Manny Pacquiao was one of the best boxers of all times. At the end of agreement, the president of Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum shook their hands.
It is claimed that this apology will promote competing between Top Rank boxers and Golden Boy boxers.
Since the suspicion was directed at Manny Pacquiao, the apology was related to him too. The fighter accepted it and dropped the defamation that was linked with the CEO and the president of Golden Boy Promotions.
At the beginning the accusation in intake of performance-enhancing medicines delayed the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. It happened because Mayweather insisted on tests for prohibited substances by the WADA.
Later Mayweather refuted to fight with this boxer again, referring to steroid accusation. It caused enhanced impatience in fans because they were expecting the fight.
