All sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics were charged with application of anabolic steroids. Can you imagine it? Although numerous things were done to avoid application of the banned drugs in sport, it is not free from these medications.
BALCO founder Victor Conte said in an interview about application of steroids by the sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Olympics. Maurice Greene, Ato Boldon, Obadele Thompson, Darren Campbell, Dwain Chambers, Aziz Zakari, Jon Drummond and Kim Collins used the banned medicines.
Victor Conte reports that Dwain Chambers, the British athlete, utilized steroids. Conte sold these medications to Chambers in 2003. As it was found out, Chambers took tetrahydrogestrinone.
Maurice Green, the American sportsperson, used steroids, testosterone cream, EPO and certain stimulants. Angel Guillermo Heredia reported that he had sold these medications to Maurice Green. But it is necessary to notice that this American sportsman started to get these products from Heredia after he had got 2 medals in Olympics.
Although Victor Conte doesn’t know about all nuances linked with possession and administration of steroids by these all athletes that participated in the Sydney Olympics, he assures that performance-enhancing drugs played their role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte supplied steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, got anabolic steroids from Conte too. After it was found out that she had used Modafinil, she forfeited her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had used tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the progress of anti-doping companies linked with steroids in sport.
