Jeffrey George is the founder of a former famous clinic related to hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was called “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was accused in illegal sales of anabolic steroids. As it was said by investigators, he started todistribute controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact he participated in illegal activity of pain clinics located in Florida. Jeffrey George sold steroids via internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They got 40 million dollars due to illegal sales of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their accusations. Jeffrey George faced also a charge of a murder because a client of “South Beach Rejuvenation” had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal activity through his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in various magazines connected with fitness as a part of therapy conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George because of steroids. He was accused in possession of anabolic steroids , intending to sell them in 2003. This person was sentenced to eight-month imprisonment. Then Jeffrey George was involved in illegal distribution of anabolic steroids, trying to bypass Florida’s laws which allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This man didn’t have any medical education. But he established the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed several physicians that prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. This physician got 5, 000 dollars weekly for prescriptions of steroids for clients of George’s clinic.
Since steroids were sold via internet and customers were far from the clinic, they were required to perform some tests in clinics that were located near to them. Then they filled results of lab tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per internet. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
A lot of sales consultants of ”South Beach Rejuvenation” used anabolic steroids too. Moreover, they purchased large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and distributed them on the side. The sales consultants also explained their clients how to take and combine steroids in order to reach more positive effects in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to set up a clinic to sell steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was opened.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two physicians who were employed by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They earned 1, 000 dollars per week.
The owners of these clinics and doctors employed by them were charged with illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and prescriptions over internet.

Jane Fonda told in an interview for “The Sunday Telegraph” that she had administrated the steroid testosterone. This was her first time, when she made her administration of testosterone public. This woman is 73 years old. She admitted that she had begun to use testosterone when she was 70 years old. Her purpose was to increase her libido. The woman desired to improve her sex life.
It is necessary to note that Jane Fonda was considered to be the sex symbol of 1960s. Recently she wrote a new book. It was entitled following: “Prime Time: Love, health, sex, fitness, friendship, spirit-making the most of all of your life”. As you guess, she writes what people have to do in order to achieve healthy life, healthy sex and to have satisfaction the whole life. A chapter describes methods to induce sex drive in older people. But there is no any reference to steroids.
Jane Fonda noted about undesirable reactions of the steroid testosterone in the interview for “The Sunday Telegraph”. She told that she had discontinued taking the steroid testosterone because of acne . Nevertheless, Jane Fonda recommends using testosterone to improve sex life.
As it is known, the steroid testosterone is an excellent drug for enhancement of sex drive. But unexpected results of this medication can be quite serious. The FDA didn’t approve this steroid to increase sex drive in females. Several persons believe that conservative attitudes to sexuality of women disturbed the FDA from approval of this product for female libido.

Actors confirm that they eat and train a lot to enhance muscle mass
Anabolic steroids are definitively taken by various actors. You can see dramatical changes in actors’ physique in short period of time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short period of time he plays a role with increased muscle size. How may actors induce their muscle mass in short period of time? The answer is obvious. They apply anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they take performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” induced their muscles dramatically to play certain roles. Undoubtedly, this factor led to questions about administration of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions related to administration of medications that possess performance-enhancing effects.
As it is known, Jason Momoa increased his muscles by 30 pounds to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, that also played in “Conan the Barabarian” noticed that Momoa reached that results not because of steroids. Jason Momoa said that he wanted to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without steroid use. It would be ideally, according to the words of this actor. But he mentioned that our world and life were not ideal. Momao pointed out that he had trained hardly. Moreover, this actor followed a strict diet. He consumed broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, he induced his muscle mass by 20 pounds in order to play Thor. Chris Hemsworth confirmed that he had eaten very much. Chris Hemsworth mentioned that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. He confirmed that it had been quite difficult to eat, when he didn’t want. Moreover, Chris Hemsworth had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was very exhausting.
It is interesting to mention that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this aspect unreal without intake of steroids? Nevertheless, the actor pointed out that he hadn’t administrated anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also increased muscle mass significantly in order to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He confirmed that he had increased muscle size because of trainings and a strict diet.

The Anti-Doping Agency of the U. S. thinks that the agreement with the NFL about blood tests for HGH is an immense progress
Players of the NFL mistrust methods used by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, several skeptic thoughts linked with the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Some scientists that are not connected with the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods utilized by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of steroids use in American football, assures that the NFL players mistrust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skepticism of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, confirms that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH have to be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to mention that according to certain specialists, the method of this test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research notes that this test is not useful for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which can be applied by the WADA to detect athletes that take HGH. Sonksen elaborated a certain HGH testing method that is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t utilize this method to determine consumers of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by scientists, the HGH biomarker test is more useful than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists confirm about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to apply the other method.

The Salk Institute intends to elaborate new drugs which will be better than anabolic steroids
Specialists intend to create alternatives to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They point out that athletes may soon have another way to bulk up. The Salk Institute has noted that the efforts of the scientists have got success. Late researches have displayed that inactivation of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” leads to increase of muscle size, energy and endurance. The leader of the studies conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, notes that this knowledge may lead to development of some new preparations which will benefit not only for sportspersons and bodybuilders who train but also for persons that are sedentary.
The specialists of the Salk Institute note about persons who can’t perform physical exercises because they have different health troubles, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological aspects that lead to sedentary lifestyle. The specialists intend to elaborate certain specific products which could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy people. Now they experiment with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they may cause increase of muscles in sedentary individuals. But people that administrate anabolic steroids should train and alter their diets to reach better effects.
If new medications that block NCoR1 are elaborated by scientists successfully, they will lead to essential changes in sedentary individuals. But can you imagine which positive effects will be caused in athletes?
But there is also an important difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. As it is known, anabolic steroids lead to unexpected results; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even for life. Furthermore, anabolic steroids may lead to serious adverse reactions especially in women. But as for NCoR1 suppression, scientists assure that products that will suppress this genome regulator will not lead to side reactions.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression which has got the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It represents results of various experiments which enrolled mice and nematodes. The experiments have displayed that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had more enhanced muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice that received anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further studies and conclusions.
It is possible to mention that elder people and people who have got muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in researchers to check positive effects of new potential medications.

Law enforcement agencies help to catch steroid users in sports
Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t take part in competitions 4 years. The suspension was established by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was charged with trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher distributed more than 15 types of steroids. It was found out that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone were among the medications that had been distributed by this sportsperson. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this person to 9 months in jail.
It is interesting to mention that the shot-putter from Britain never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you think that it is strange? What could it mean? One may suggest that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not effective enough to catch consumers of steroids that participate in international sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD put many efforts to make sports free of cheating and administration of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These organizations also collaborate with law enforcement agencies in order to get the needed effects.
The UKAD noticed that anti-doping officials would be allowed to share information about names of sportsmen who utilized anabolic steroids.
This case showed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement benefits a lot. It proved that law enforcement organizations may help greatly to catch the sportspersons who take anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is difficult to overvalue the role of these organizations in catching of steroid users in sports. Andy Parkinson, the manager of the UKAD, claims that if law enforcement organizations collaborate with the UKAD, they will have success.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain case linked with intake of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had participated in the illegal activity conducted by by certain of his relatives. That’ why Fletcher was suspended from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Some Spanish athletes are surprised that Yannick Noah could write such stupid things about steroid use in sports
Spanish athletes criticized the former tennis player from France, Yannick Noah. This sportsman wrote an amazing article “La Potion Magique” which was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. This man points out in his work that Spanish athletes have some advantages and win competitions because they apply anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has more loyal attitude to steroid use than France; that’s why Spanish athletes are more muscular and have success in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a celebrated sportsman from Spain, points out that Yannick Noah wrote totally foolish statements and comments in the article. He is surprised how Noah’s article was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadalwho won 10 Grand titles points out that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such things that are worthy to be published. According to the Spanish sportsperson, works of the former French tennis player don’t public attention.
David Ferrer, a Spanish professional tennis player, confirms that Yannick Noah is an ignorant man. Ferrer doesn’t understand how a man like Noah who was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works may write such things.
Tennis is not the only area of sports in which Spain won competitions. Basketball players from Spain won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, a cyclist from Spain, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football manager, says that Yannick Noah should prove, if he claims that Spanish athletes apply steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he can’t prove it, he should not write about it.
Sportsmen from France agree with attitude of Spanish sportspersons towards Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a famous French tennis player, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the director of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that persons who don’t agree with the idea of Noah’s article.

Some people use even their bedroom and kitchen to manufacture steroids
Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is charged with child abuse. Police invaded his house and discovered that his house served as a clandestine lab which had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, an individual can be accused in child abuse, if he\she just allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment used for manufacture or maintenance of these banned products are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team raided the house, they found out that there was an underground lab in it. Police discovered several kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of anabolic steroids. Some vials had following labels: “Testosterone Cypionate”. Furthermore, police reported that information linked with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical substances were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s two daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police raided the house.
It is known that New Mexico is not the only state where the production of anabolic steroids may be defined as child abuse. At least 10 other states have similar laws. Such laws are established not without any reasons.
Chemical ingredients may be toxic. They can have negative influence on children’s health. It is necessary also to know that there is a risk of fires and explosions of certain chemical substances. Parents that manufacture anabolic steroids at home do not worry about their children’s health. The children may face great dangers in such situations. How can children live in a methamphetamine lab and escape from dangers?
Parents that just administrate steroids differ from those that manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first case in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

The media is interested just in steroid stories
Georges Laraque described his life in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He wanted to share his biography with others. Georges Laraque mentioned also about intake of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These aspects about steroids use by the NHL’s players seemed to be very interesting. The Canadian press published only the quotes connected with this eternal subject. The rest of the book was neglected.
Georges Laraque told in an interview that he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs. Moreover, the author noted that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the sportsmen that had taken steroids. The book is indeed about life of the author.
The author describes several ways to determine whether a hockey player uses steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways noticed by him:
1. A hockey player who gains more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be taking steroids.
2. A hockey player that reduces his weight significantly in short period of time in order to correspond to the rules of the Winter Olympics must be utilizing performance-enhancing drugs.
Of course, all sportspersons, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency. That’s why they stop administrating the banned preparations certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to avoid probability of testing positive for these medicines.
But this is not the chief idea of the book. The author desired to display that a child is required to put incredible efforts to become a celebrated professional sportsman in spite of racism and reviling. But the media is not interested in this aspect. The press wants to publish stories related to intake of steroids by celebrated sportspersons.
It was not the purpose of the author to name the hockey players that utilized steroids.
Undoubtedly, the media tries to convince George Laraque to mention the names of the NHL’s players that use steroids.

More than 30 persons were accused in distribution of steroids in Lebanon (Ohio)
An investigation that lasted 2 years detected and closed a large-scale underground lab related to steroids. The investigation was led under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-planned activity of the certain authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a distributor of steroids sold these preparations to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was said about it, the investigations started. There was a decision to send an officer that had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid dealer. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this goal.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only person at this association who was told about the investigation. He could keep all details he knew about the activity of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a huge organization linked with distribution of steroids was detected.
32 persons took part in the illegal activity related to selling of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to detect just manufacturers and distributors of steroids. Although it didn’t focalize on clients who bought these medicines, the officials mentioned that professional sportsmen and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars which were claimed to be a profit from selling of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA talked openly to media about the results of the investigation. He didn’t fear to note that he had participated in this activity to catch the illegal organization. Caroll said that he was too glad to find out about the positive results.
It is important to note that it was quite difficult to detect the illegal organization. The undercover agent had to put efforts to buy steroids from a distributor. As a result of the investigation, an underground laboratory in Tennessee was detected. It manufactured steroids in injectable form. The raw was imported from China. The leaders of selling were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to the undercover agent, face-to-face interactions between distributors and customers were avoided in this organization. There was a specific organized locker system which helped to prevent personal interactions.
Although this illegal activity related to manufacture and selling of steroids was well-organized, the law-enforcement could detect it to close the lab. This investigation is an example that confirms following statement: if law enforcement gives main priority to such investigations, positive results can be reached.

The HGH isoform ratio test is not trustworthy
NFL players distrust methods utilized by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to understand the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, some skeptic thoughts linked with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Certain experts that are not connected with the WADA activity directly do not agree with the methods utilized by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a chief chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, assures that the NFL players distrust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. The point of view of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH have to be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to notice that according to some specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research notes that this test is not useful for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that can be utilized by the WADA to identify sportspersons who take HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method that is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t utilize this method to identify consumers of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by experts, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists point out about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to to use the method elaborated by Sonksen.

Although Victor Conte doesn’t know about all nuances linked with possession and administration of steroids by these all athletes that participated in the Sydney Olympics, he assures that performance-enhancing drugs played their role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte supplied steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, got anabolic steroids from Conte too. After it was found out that she had used Modafinil, she forfeited her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had used tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the progress of anti-doping companies linked with steroids in sport.

Kathy Jager needs a TUE for competitions
Kathy Jager, a well-known sportsperson, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this woman was banned from participation in competitions. She can’t compete till the age of 70. This decision was made by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This well-known sportwoman applied steroids because these medicines were recommended by the healthcare provider to improve her hormone balance. According to the rules of World Anti-Doping Agency, sportsmen can apply steroids for medical needs and take part in competitions, if they receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But Kathy Jager didn’t receive a TUE which could give her the authorization to apply steroids without being forbidden from competitions.
It is necessary to mention that this athlete in the sport of track and field doesn’t treat administration of anabolic steroids seriously.
This athlete tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between sportspersons that were from the age of 55 till 59. It was the first time she was banned for application of steroids. Now it was her second time.
As it is known, this famous sportswoman took EstraTest HS which contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a tablet.
Kathy Jager pointed out that she had applied EstraTest for medical purposes. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and refused to allow her to compete.
Kathy Jager’s case led to a lot of debates. Some people condemned her for intake of steroids, others defended her.
When this woman was banned the first time, she used steroids in order to escape from menopausal troubles. The drugs were recommended by her physician. Later she ceased taking prescribed medicines and began to administrate herbal preparations.
So, this woman must not participate in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had had a TUE, she could compete. But nobody is sure whether the WADA will give her a TUE or not.
